The Guinea Fowl Restaurant offers a full a la carte menu, and each day there is a selection of "specials", plus a choice of lighter options which are perfect for lunch-time. The fusion of food and flavours is based upon the freshest of local ingredients creatively combined by Executive Chef, Leo Romer and Sous Chef, Stephen Nortje. Guests can dine inside the Guinea Fowl Restaurant with views of Saxenburg vineyards across to Table Mountain, dine al fresco on The Terrace or relax at the Lapa situated in the manicured flower gardens. All options offer beautiful and relaxed surroundings whether it be a balmy summer's evening or a cold winter lunch-time.
Special attention is paid to presentation; from the tableware to the lay-out of the food on your plate every detail is important. Wining and dining is a feast for the senses and our restaurant team know that first impressions count. When the dish is "revealed" at the table, it must look sensational - may be even too good to eat! This site will show you a few of the mouth-watering dishes (also browse through our Gallery) which is indicative of the high-standard to which we aspire.
Regular patrons of The Guinea Fowl definitely associate the restaurant with fresh fish. This is where the daily "specials" menu comes into its own. Each morning Leo Romer will select the best of the catch direct from the fishermen at the quayside. Likewise, the salad and vegetables are bought direct from the market on a daily basis. Most of the herbs come from our very own kitchen garden. Traditional South African game is also on the menu. The rich, full-flavoured red meats match perfectly with the robust red wines from the Saxenburg Private Collection range.
We offer you good food and good wine. You will be surrounded by breath-taking scenery whilst enjoying the charm, warmth and generous hospitality which is uniquely Saxenburg.
