Vinification
Details
This is a fruity, early drinking, medium-bodied
wine and is a blend of several cultivars. There
is no single dominant varietal. The wine comprises
70% un-wooded French wine from Chateau Capion
(Syrah, Carignan, Grenache, Cinsaut, Cabernet
Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc) and 30% Saxenburg
wine (Cinsaut, Cabernet Franc and Tinta Barocca)
matured for 6 months in wood. A wine of deep
ruby-red colour, intriguing flavours of ripe
maraschino cherry complimented by a gentle
smokiness and scents of forest and herbs. A
medium bodied wine of fine balance. Fresh berry
fruit predominates matched by smooth, soft
tannins. Lovely as a young wine, it has the
potential to mature for some years. Grand vin
Rouge is ideal on its own, but is an excellent
accompaniment to pizza, chicken, carpaccio
and other light meat dishes.
